Placenta Encapsulation

Service Description

Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing the placenta for consumption after the birth by dehydrating, powdering and placing it into capsules for the birthing person to use at their discretion. Other options for preserving and honoring your placenta are available (instead, or in addition to the capsules). Prices for these items vary and are in addition to encapsulation cost; please ask before booking services. These options include: placenta tincture (in vegetable glycerine), placenta print, placenta ghee, umbilical cord dreamcatcher, umbilical cord keepsake, and Ayurvedic herbal add-ons. Upon booking, a contract with clear instruction on how to safely preserve your placenta between the time of birth and time of pick up will be sent to you via email. I will pick up your placenta at an agreed upon time/location and will have your pills completed within 48 hours of pick up. If your placenta has been frozen, an additional 24 hours will be added to the total processing time to safely defrost your placenta. I will contact you once your pills are completed to arrange a time for drop off. Please remember that I am also a birth doula. In the event that I am called to a birth there may be a delay in preparing your placenta. I will contact you if this is the case. I will provide written guidelines for proper storage of placenta capsules and recommendation for use/ingestion. Although there are reported benefits of placenta encapsulation and many women have found placenta encapsulation to be a wonderful and amazing gift, aways speak to your care provider regarding any questions about your health, safety and well- being. Placenta services are not meant to be a replacement for medical advice, medical care or medicine. If you experience symptoms of postpartum depression or anxiety, low milk supply, etc. please call your care provider to discuss options for addressing any existing symptoms or potential conditions. It is always okay to ask for help.

Cancellation Policy

To secure your requested appointment time slot a deposit is paid when a session is booked. This deposit is non-refundable, regardless of when a session is cancelled. Honored appointments will have their booking deposit applied to their session balance.
